A touch screen or multi touch screen is an integration of an output and input device. The touch screen is generally layered above an internal electronic image of a data processing system. While the device may be a smartphone, tablet, or laptop, the screen is most commonly an LCD or LED screen.

With this information, the device is able to recognize finger movements and quickly respond. Although some older touch screen devices are known to be slow to respond, touch screen technology continues to advance at a rapid pace.
